2. Toreador Society

Toreador Society is a bit like the fame game, but organised along the lines of last centuries salon culture. It's gatherings are parties, private views and gala performances. It's players are the rich and famous. This is high society folks !

The aim of the game, depending upon who you are is to have your work acknowledged and acclaimed or to provide the most glittering social gatherings around whom the art world revolves (or very possibly both). In fact prestige is the aim of the game and it is gained when people acknowledge your latest work or if you host what is considered to be a successful gathering.

The Toreador control this high society scene. If someone has high prestige among the Toreador, they also have high prestige in the scene conversely if the Toreador think badly of someone, then so will the socialites.

Please note, prestige is not gained by producing art. It is gained by the acknowledgement of the art's worth. The benefits of high prestige (besides being famous and adored) are that you will be asked by people to display your art (rather than having to ask people for permission) and that people will want to come to your parties allowing you to make them more refined and exclusive (i.e. high prestige makes the gaining and maintaining of prestige easier).

The Toreador don't, as a whole, have serious clan meetings in which strategies and threats to the clan are discussed, they are far more concerned in carving out their corner of fame and being the heart of the arts scene.
