Time Freeze

Time Freeze is a term most commonly used in Live Action Roleplaying. It is called when some special effect needs to be set up. Usually this can be done very quickly (in less than a minute or so). Time Freeze, as the name suggests indicates that time has frozen.

The mechanics for a time freeze vary. Nearly all systems require that the players stand still and do not move during a time freeze. Many also require eyes to be closed and possibly tunes to be hummed.

Common effects performed during time freezes are moving people or objects to indicate teleportation or very fast movement; transformations of costume and the like and giving instructions such as "all elves fall over."

In come Vampire LRPs certain characters can move exceptionally fast in "Dead Time". This is often used interchangeably with "Time Freeze" in such games, however when calling "Dead Time" the player may call a number indicating how many seconds the time freeze is to be held.
